The Catechism Series - an Introduction

The Catechism Series - an Introduction
Catechism of St. Peter Canisius; Saint and Doctor of the Church

At long last, Living Echoes is launching the afore-promised Catechism Series. We shall be engaging in two, simultaneous explorations of these illustrious Catechisms: Butler's Irish Catechism (originally published in 1775), and the Catechism of St. Peter Canisius (originally published in 1555 and first published in English in 1622).

Butler's will be covered in writing in this newsletter. We will start at the beginning, and go through every single question and answer from it in installments, with a small bit of commentary at the end of each citation and installment. These will release once per day, Monday-Friday, at Noon. They will be short, concise installments that can be read quickly and simply without much effort.

Secondly, as time and my schedule permits, I shall begin doing livestream or prerecorded videos of readings from St. Peter Canisius' Catechism (a much longer work than Butler's), from beginning to end. I also plan on Hosting a Catechism Review where we shall jump on private, members only, group calls to comment on and analyze what was covered in the public video on the Catechism. We shall discuss how it applies to us today, the ramifications of the teaching, and more. If you are interested in joining our Catechism Review, please email me at LivingEchoes1890@gmail.com with ST. PETER in the subject line, and I shall add you to the class roster.

The reason for this series being the next work Living Echoes is undertaking is due to the vital necessity of knowing the basics of our faith to combat the errors and lies of the world today. Without a strong foundation in the simple Catechisms meant for laity, we shall be hard pressed to stand against the raging sea of error and heresy that batters the Church today.

I look forward to beginning this series, and I pray God may use it to strengthen us and to convert our fallen brothers and sisters to Him and His Church.
